Due to a vacancy in the Technical Support and Major Projects Group our client is looking for a Electrical Asset Engineer to develop, plan and implement asset plans and major projects. Working from the new and modern head office you will be close to public transport and all amenities. You will be responsible for one of the company’s key generation operations with a requirement for regular travel to site maintaining strong lines of communication. 

If you have 5+ years experience in the power generation engineering field and as part of a significant multi-disciplined team of people, high level communication skills, tertiary qualifications in electrical engineering and ideally but not essential post-graduate qualifications in business or management then please read on…

The Asset Engineer is responsible to operate in line with company policies and standards, Australian standards and statutory requirements. You be required to develop and regularly update asset management plans (annually), develop and effect project plans using recognised project management guidelines to achieve quality on time and in budget. In addition, provide contract administration to consolidate requirements, prepare specification, tender, negotiate, assess, award and administer the contracts working with a joint technical and commercial team.

Key Responsibilities are: 

  • Develop and regularly update asset management plans on an annual basis.
  • Provide timely technical support to the operating units using expertise and or sourcing external consultants where necessary.
  • Conduct evaluations encompassing problem definition, risk analysis, solution definition and costings, providing recommendations to management in time for the annual budget planning cycle.
  • Keep up to date with relevant product and industry knowledge.

Required Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience: 

  • Tertiary qualifications in an engineering discipline, preferably electrical engineering.
  • At least five years experience in a power generation engineering field or equivalent industrial experience.
  • Post graduate qualifications in business or management discipline (desirable).
  • At least six years operational experience in a coal-fired power generation engineering field (desirable).
  • High level analytical, communications skills and a robust personality.
